Professor Roger Hurst, Principal Scientist, Food Innovation, Plant & Food Research.
Dr. Hurst has experience in the biomedical health area through an R&D and academic career at the University of Toronto, Canada; the Babraham Institute, Cambridge, UK ; the Institute of Neurology, London, UK ; and the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK. Dr. Hurst joined Plant & Food Research in 2007 and has developed an interest in fruit and vegetable bioactive compounds and their role in modulating and managing stress, inflammation, and immunity to aid health recovery, repair and performance. Dr. Hurst has published over 100 science manuscripts and has lead large research programmes supporting the development of new food products with industry partners (e.g. 2beforeTM Performance Nutrition Ltd., BerriQi®) using new fruit cultivars for targeted human health benefits.
